As a young child Tom began taking piano lessons from Miss Ruth Olive Roberts, a gifted pianist (who once was engaged on a trans-Altantic trip as ship's pianist on the Queen Elizabeth II) who educated generations of young musicians from her Victorian home in Saco, Maine. Under Miss Roberts' instruction, Tom studied piano and church organ for two decades. With a solid background of classical and semi-classical music, Tom's interest eventually drifted to more popular music of the time. While continuing instruction with Miss Roberts, he spent five years under the tutelage of composer and arranger Arthur Kendall.
Tom's diverse musical background includes pianist and organist positions in Southern Maine Churches, a member of the successful 80's rock band EXIT 5, and performing with the present-day band Small Boy Pete's.
Al started performing as rock singer at age 15 and picked up the bass guitar soon after. As lead singer in beach bar bands in coastal New England through the 1970's, Al has performed many styles over the years including classic rock, pop, and popular country music as a member of the bands Mystic Four, Exit 5, Guilty and Kasco Bay. Today, Al's diverse musical tastes are easily satisfied between the lounge sounds of Tommy O and the original rock music he performs with his other band, Small Boy Pete's.
